How are you doing my Fierce readers,
Todays post is about a revision of my previous post Start a Blog & Tell a Story I have expanded the story and I hope you enjoy!
Lets jump right in....
Before I started the MCBS (Media Communication Bachelors of Science) Program. I had endured and conquered some life challenges. I went to a few colleges trying to find my way, and majored in a few different things and even created a few things along the way. I was born as the second child and the baby of my household. I only having one other sibling, which is my big sister who is 6 years older than me. I was born premature being only 3 pounds and 6 ounces, with an underdeveloped lung. My family didn't know if I would make it through being that i was so small, but I did after months of being in the NICU. But the challenges didn't stop there, at one years old I had my first eye surgery on my left. I have a condition called Sixth nerve palsy which causes my eyes to have lot of difficulties. From bad eye site to not having complete muscle control over my eyes. This condition has caused me to have surgery again at age 8 on the right eye and once again at age 20 on both of my eyes. These challenges, my other health risks and more didn't stop me from reaching my first real goal which came at the age of 12, I had my mind set on being a music producer. I started my journey with music at a young age. Music was always my passion, and was the best way that I could express my self. I started playing piano and the african drums at 5 years old. I was obsessed with these instruments at such a young age because my older sister played them as well. I became a professional story teller at the age of 8 traveling and performing all over the United States. I took that passion and expanded it all the way through middle and high school. I was apart of band, choir, acting/dancing. and expanded my self to becoming Captain of my cheerleading squad for all seasons for 3 years until I graduated I even started playing the bells. When graduating from Como Park Senior high school I was dead set on going to a college that specialized in music. So being that I lived in Minnesota I went to McNally Smith College of Music and majored in audio engineering. I had always thought I wanted to be a music producer, but while being at McNally Smith College of Music I could feel my interest changing and my view becoming different. Something just wasn't the same any more. So I looked in to another school to see if I could find a better fit, that school was Globe University.
That is when I realized that I was better at media creation/ business. I realized this by looking into Globe University's music business program. I became very interested and transferred myself into this new degree and experience. Along the journey of this experience I had many opportunities to deal in business and media creation, and created many projects along the way. I worked hard in the music business program and because of that I received my associates in music business. This was one of the best day of my life I became a college graduate, but it wasn’t enough for me I wanted more for my self.
I soon after applied at Globe University for a Bachelors of Science in Entertainment Media, but the degree was canceled before I could start. At this point I was confused and unsure of my next move. I started to research new college options and came upon the perfect one, because of that I applied to Full Sail University for the bachelors in Music Production program being that I was still very passionate about music I felt this was the best choice. I was a couple months into my degree when I found out I was pregnant with my beautiful little girl. This was a major shock and surprise to me because I was not suppose to be able to have kids. So she was my miracle baby and she became my whole world. After having her I continued my courses and pushed on to completing my degree, but I had to take some time off from school. So while taking time off I had time to review my options on what I really wanted to do with myself and what I wanted out of life.
I start looking into new degree options at Full Sail, because once again media was calling my name and because of that I found out about the new Media Communications degree. This was really great because i felt like I was given my second chance to get into a media degree. I thought on it for a while, until finally I changed my major to Media Communications, and ever since I decided to pursue my passion for media. I have never felt so satisfied and excited about learning. I have never been this enthused about being able to do my homework and create new projects. Media Communications is the only thing that suits me the best and ignites my creativity. I could never have been so right with any choice that I have made with my education. Im truly happy indeed!
By reading my fellow classmates stories It really help me develop a voice. It showed me different ways to go about this assignment and different ways to structure my writing. It also helped me see how it would feel to have their stories seen from my point of view. This helped me to form how I wanted my readers to take my story. It showed me different ways to shed light on different experiences. All in all by reading Lisa, Cory, and Elizabeths story it helped me to learn more about them and showed me how I could transform my self into writing so others can learn about me as well.
Keep your eyes ready for the next post my Fierce Readers!
Yours Truly,
Jazzi
